When I come back to London, I'm definitely making a trip here again.  This place is absolutely amazing and is a great place to come and explore the local shops and taste the fresh foods that are simmering right in front of you.

There is a stand that has an enormous paella cooking out in the open and the chef is nice enough to let you have a taste!  While I didn't order the paella, I did get the moules frites... OH MY GOD!!!!  With the Marinières sauce, it is TO DIE FOR!!!!  This quintessential French dish is a must have if you enjoy seafood... they do have another sauce option which was very unconventional (it was almost like a curry I want to say), which was tasty too, but I would really recommend the Marinières instead.

My boyfriend had some fresh oysters and sea urchin; I think he enjoyed the oysters but didn't think the sea urchin (uni) was all that fresh.  It's cool though because you can tell them which ones you want and they go ahead and crack them open right in front of you.

It was nice to walk around and peruse the market of fresh fruit and vegetables, which there are soooo many of!  I got some watermelon juice to sip on and it was quite refreshing.  We passed by a stall that had this wild mushroom risotto (or something similar) and I totally regret not getting some... but we were so full!  There was just so much food around us we didn't know what to eat!

If you love food, if you are visiting london, and if you have a few hours to pass... Borough Market has got to be on your list.

Bring some pounds and your appetite and get ready to lose yourself in one of the best public markets around.

They ahve everything from flowers, to cheese, to meats and seafood, to prepared food like the Paella plate I got (highly reccommend, it was flavorful, fresh and full of all the goodness and the pan can serve 1000 ppl easily)

I def got lost in there for a few hours and could go back day after day. Walking, sampling, taking photos and honestly just completely zoning out from the real world and surrounding myself with the thing I love most. FOOD!

We headed for lunch after visiting the cathedral. It wasn't a far walk from it. I saw there was great review at Padella so we went there before it opened and there was a freaking long line. We got on the waiting list which it was about an hr wait. So we walked around the market in the meantime. We tried Fish! as you can refer to that review.

Afterwards, we saw this little stand selling mushroom risotto. It smelled and looked so good so we also decided to get one to share. Because after all, we are still going to eat at Padella. The mushroom risotto was yummy but some of the risotto still had the outer shell on it. So it made it less pleasant to eat. And you have to eat the mushroom with the risotto because I believe they sprinkled some salt on top of the mushroom. So if you just eat that by itself, it'll be pretty salty.

We also walked around to check out other places and there are a lot more little stands we liked to try. I wished I came with more friends so we can try more food! :)

If you're a tourist like I was, it's cool to walk through and check out the atmosphere.

But if you're solely going there to try out the different selections of food each vendor has to offer - you may leave dissatisfied.

Fish! which was our first meal there was 5 stars delicious. Crispy, fluffy and amazing.

Everything else either looked bleh or sucked.

This seafood stand selling scallop stir fry was terrible. £7.50 for 4 pieces of scallops on a bed of veggie stir fry topped with some bacon crumble. Bland and terrible.

The Bread Ahead that's so hyped in London was no good. The cream was whatever and the dough itself was airy and dry with zero texture and flavor.

The Pasta place called Paz that was the most talked about spot had a 45-60 min wait.

Again. Fun to walk. Not so much to eat.

I've been lucky enough to visit some awesome big, famous markets throughout Asia, Europe, and the US, and I have to say, Borough Market ranks right up there at the top! I'll put it right up there with Nishiki in Kyoto, La Boqueria Mercat in Barcelona, and Pike Place in Seattle as my favorites!

On to the market! What makes this place so cool, IMO, is that it's pretty huge, the architecture is beautiful, and the food is diverse! You have British staples, British delicacies, and other ethnic foods from around the world. My friends and I went two separate times, each for several hours. We basically just went around stuffing our faces with small samplings of as much as we could, lol! And I'm super open minded when it comes to food, so I tried several items that were off the beaten path as well! Basically, come here with an open stomach, mind, and wallet, and you'll leave happy!
